The renowned filmmaker has announced the ninth and final season, raising the mug for one last time. As the show completes 22 years, he is set to bring back glamour, gossip, spicy conversations, and much more.
On September 30, 2026, Karan Johar shared the first glimpse of the talk show on his Instagram handle with an emotional confession. The video features the filmmaker getting ready for another cup of coffee. He emphasized, “So this is more of an emotional message than a professional announcement.”
Revealing the first time the idea of the show came, Karan shared, “I think it was June 2004 when I told my dad that I really wanted to host a talk show. I wanted to host two celebrities or stars and have an informal, candid chat with them. He looked at me and said, ‘Karan, you are going to call your friends, talk to them, something that you do every day anyway. Who will pay you for that?'”
Further, Karan shared about his father’s passing: “He passed away that same month, actually on 26 June. The very first day I shot for it was 16 August 2004. And I’m here now, eight seasons later, 22 years later, 161 episodes later. A lot happened. I called lovers. I called friends. I called families. I called lovers who went on to become ex-lovers. Some of them even got married. I put an end to the careers of national icons. I am living with the term ‘nepo’ even today. Conjecture became a national word. So much happened.”
Sharing what the show has given him and the enthusiasm surrounding it, he added, “Everywhere I go, fortunately or unfortunately, they always ask me, ‘When is the next season of Koffee With Karan?’ I wonder why they never ask me, ‘When is my next feature film?’ But whatever it was, it gave me so much. I’ve reached a point of time in my life where I realized all good things must come to an end. With a kind of heavy heart, I have to say this will be my very last season of Koffee With Karan.”
Reflecting on what lies ahead, Karan invited viewers to join him one last time, “There will be trolls, there will be comments, there will be posts, and I’m ready to take that on. But within all of that and beneath all of that, I know there is still an abundance of love for this cup of coffee. So join me in my last season of Koffee With Karan and have that one last cup of coffee with me. Cheers!”
The final farewell season, “Koffee With Karan Season 9,” will officially stream, starting on October 14, 2026, exclusively on the newly merged platform JioHotstar.
