Shocking news surfaces this day: renowned late industrialist Ratan Tata’s step-mother and Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata’s mother, Simone Tata, has passed away at the age of 95. As per the reports, the Founder of Lakme and Westside took her last breath this morning, December 5.

Simone was battling with symptoms of Parkinson’s disease earlier this year. And today she passed away in Mumbai hospital, Breach Candy hospital, after fighting with her illness. According to reports, Simone’s last rites will be held tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, at the Cathedral of the Holy Name in Colaba.

Simone was born in Geneva and first visited India in 1953, at the age of 23. And on her trip to India, she met Naval Tata, who was divorced and was 26 years older than her. However, the two married in 1955, after two years, after which she settled in India. Simone is known for building the cosmetic brand Lakme, and later she founded the fashion brand Westside. Lakme and Westside are both renowned fashion brands, and people love them.

Later, Simone retired in 2006, and after that she rarely appeared. However, she was seen at the funeral of her stepson and former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, who passed in October 2024. After Ratan Tata’s passing, Simone’s son, Noel Tata, took over as chairman of the Tata Group.
