The 25-year-old was handed the title by Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, Denmark’s first-ever winner, during the glittering ceremony held on Friday morning (Thursday night in the US). The Miss Universe organisation released the crowning moment soon after, capturing Bosch’s emotional reaction as she realised she had secured the coveted title.

While her win has been celebrated across Latin America, it comes on the heels of weeks of controversy that repeatedly overshadowed the competition. The tension began as early as 4 November, the pageant’s opening day, when Bosch was seen engaging in a heated exchange with Miss Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil during a sponsorship event. The confrontation, streamed live on the Miss Thailand Facebook page, spread rapidly online and fuelled intense speculation about internal conflicts.

In response to the viral incident, Miss Universe president Raul Rocha announced that Itsaragrisil would no longer be allowed to attend future pageant activities. Yet despite the strong statement, he still appeared at several functions and was even acknowledged during the live finale, raising further questions about the organisation’s handling of the matter.

Just days before the crowning night, the pageant found itself embroiled in another dispute when composer Omar Harfouch stepped down as a judge. Harfouch claimed he discovered that the top 30 contestants had allegedly been picked in advance through a “secret vote,” bypassing the official judging panel. Speaking to Business Insider, he said he initially felt honoured to serve as a judge, but lost confidence after learning of what he described as a parallel selection process.

The Miss Universe Organization later responded through an Instagram statement on 18 November, clarifying that Harfouch had misunderstood the purpose of a separate committee. They explained that the group was involved in the “Beyond the Crown Program,” which spotlights contestants’ philanthropic work, and was not responsible for determining placements.

Despite the surrounding drama, Bosch’s win marks a significant moment for Mexico — and a headline-making conclusion to a highly scrutinised season.
