The trailer of Netflix’s big bang actioner Extraction (earlier titled Dhaka) with Chris Hemsworth in the lead was dropped a few days ago. The bad news is that there is no sign of Randeep Hooda anywhere in the trailer, though I did catch a glimpse Priyanshu Painyulli who played the title role in Bhavesh Joshi.

However, there is one actor, a relative newcomer all of 14, named Rudraksh Jaiswal who is in almost every frame of extraction. Rudraksh plays a young kidnap victim rescued from ganglords by Hemsworth. It is reliably learnt that Rudraksh has the second lead in the film.

“His character pushes the plot forward. And he has done a lot of the action scenes with Chris Hemsworth. In fact, Chris was really impressed with Rudraksh and spent all the time outside the shooting playing cricket with Rudraksh and learning Hindi from him.”

Rudraksh, who played the young version of Sahadeva in the 2013 television adaptation of Mahabharat, says Chris Hemsworth may offer the boy a role in the next Thor film. It would be a welcome change to see the child actor march ahead after Extraction rather than lose his stardom after the maiden-India impact. This happened to two Indian child actors recently. Neel Sethi who made such a global impact as Mowgli in The Jungle Book in 2018 and Sunny Pawar who stole the show from Dev Patel in Lion. Where are they now?
