With every passing year, the standard of performances in OTT has touched new milestones and has only bigger and better. In 2021 as well, we saw some of the ladies out there rule the roost and get lauded for their power-packed performances. As the year comes to an end, we point out a list of 10 most popular female stars on OTT in 2021

Huma Qureshi: She’s been one of the finest performing artistes in the Indian entertainment industry for a fairly long time and last year, she raised expectations of the audience in a big way with Maharani. She was quite phenomenal with her performance in the political drama and after Scam 1992 in 2020, Sony LIV managed to bag another great one with this in 2021.

Konkona Sen Sharma: Whenever we walk about Konkona Sen Sharma and her acting mettle, ‘underrated’ is perhaps that one adjective that has been used for her for a fairly long time. However, make no mistake as she’s reinvented herself as an artiste in a huge way in the last few years. As far as 2021 is concerned, we got to see her in Mumbai Diaries 26/11, a web series based on the infamous 26/11 Mumbai attacks. It gave us a fresh perspective about the situation of hospitals back then during the attack and needless to say, it has been a spine-chilling experience seeing her. One of her best in her career certainly.

Mithila Palkar: Whenever we talk about Mithila Palkar and OTT, the first project that instantly hit out mind is ‘Little Things’. All good things have to come to an end some day or the other and for the Little Things franchise, it was season 4 of the show in 2021 that brought an end to the dynamic tale of Mithila and Dhruv Sehgal. Nonetheless, the actress didn’t disappoint and won hearts of many in the final installment of the popular show and that brings her in his list for the year 2021.

Raima Sen: She’s been actively working in the Indian entertainment industry in Hindi and Bengali cinema for the last 20 years and with the rising popularity of OTT, the ‘Bong Beauty’ decided to spread her wings and make full use of her potential in this format as well. We got to see her wonderful performance in Amazon Prime Video’s The Last Hour and with the ‘supernatural’ plot of the show, it made the show an even more enjoyable and intriguing watch.

Raveena Tandon: With every passing year, new and popular A-lister names are venturing into the world of OTT to make their performance speak big time and for Raveena Tandon, it was Netflix’s ‘Aranyak’ that proved to be the ideal opportunity to once again prove to one and all that she’s got plenty of stream left in her. She delved deep into her character of a lady police officer with complete conviction and that showed on-screen in every frame that she was a part of. Absolutely brilliant would be an understatement.

Richa Chaddha: She is one actress who has simply never restricted herself to any particular genre and be it comedy movies or courtroom dramas, she has done it all in movies. Well, as far as OTT is concerned, she decided to explore new arenas of content in 2021 with Voot’s Candy and Amazon Prime Video’s Inside Edge 3 and as expected, she managed to hit it out of the park with her performances like a thorough professional. You simply can’t keep her out of the ‘game’ as she’s here to stay.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu: She’s hailed and regarded as one of the finest actresses in the South regional entertainment industry. For anyone who plans to make a successful transition to B-Town from any regional industry, she must learn from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The actress was absolutely phenomenal in her character of Raji, a Sri Lankan Tamil in Amazon Prime Video’s Family Man 2 and we were simply blown away seeing her performance. It is never easy to make an impact in the same project which also has Manoj Bajpayee grabbing limelight but with her promising performance, she has certainly proven that she’s going to be an asset for Bollywood in the long run.

Supriya Pathak: The veteran lady needs no introduction as she’s one of the most admired and respected performing artistes around. From comedy to situational dramas, Supriya ji has done it all in her illustrious career and now, she’s at that stage of her career where she only works for her creative satisfaction and has nothing to prove to anyone. She was absolutely wonderful in Sony LIV’s Tabbar as Sargun Kaur and the way she complimented Pavan Malhotra’s character in the show, it was simply remarkable. A must-have in our esteemed list.

Surbhi Jyoti: One of Surbhi Jyoti’s most popular shows in Hindi TV was Qubool Hai many years back. Not many get the opportunity to be a part of the sequel of their most exciting project and that too in a completely new platform. However, Qubool Hai 2.0, that marked Surbhi’s debut in the digital world certainly made all her loyal legion of fans very happy. Everyone was super happy to see her chemistry with Karan Singh Grover shine once again on screen and it certainly gave us all a fresh new perspective about cross-border love. One of the cutest love stories in 2021 on the web for real.

Sushmita Sen: Last but certainly not the least, we have Sushmita Sen whose performance in Aarya 2, the sequel to Aarya was absolutely on point. She continued from where she left the last time and no wonder the audience felt that the intensity of her performance was at an all-time high in the show. The way she performed in this sensational thriller is the ideal ‘boss lady’ vibes that the audience craved for and the diva didn’t disappoint this time as well. Who else is excited for season 3?
