Producer Chitra Vakil has had quite a successful run with some top-notch OTT projects providing diverse, different and out of the box content.

From web shows like Bhram and Raktanchal, Chitra has managed to create a niche. Chitra was an associate producer with both the web series.

Not one to give up on ideating and creating more fruitful concepts, content and stories, Chitra used the lockdown as well to work on new projects. One of them being a brand new rap song based on ‘Corona’, which was shot, executed and put together all through the entire quarantine phase. And two web series which will go in production post the lockdown is over.

Speaking about her love for good content and the projects that she has worked on and is in the process of working on, Chitra shares, “I have always wanted to explore production and I do have a fair idea of how the entertainment industry works, so I went ahead with pursuing it. I picked up some valuable tips from my lawyer sister Rohini Vakil who happens to be one of the top entertainment lawyers, I named my company TSM Productions on the names of mine and Rohini’s daughters and I guess that’s where my luck lies. I received my first break with the release of ‘Bhram’ starring Kalki Koechlin on ZEE5. That inspired me to work harder, and in spite of the lockdown in place, my 2nd project Raktanchal which was released on MX player got a great response, crossing 75Million views. We have also just released a ‘Corona’ rap Nikle Toh Nikal Loge on Zee music by Kunal Ganjwala, starring Manish Raisinghan as well which gives out a social message about the current situation. It’s definitely on its way to being an anthem for Corona very soon!”

“I have been effectively utilizing my time through the lockdown, working on my upcoming projects. There is the film Sarvagun Asampann and a kid’s animation project that I am currently working on. I am also in talks for 3 web series with prime platforms, which should hopefully be out soon. I am truly grateful to my sister Rohini for all the tips and tricks, and being the perfect guide for me throughout my journey in this industry. Apart from her Nivedita Basu, the queen of the television industry has also been a great mentor and support system for me out here. Both these ladies are extremely strong women who have always had my back, for which I feel lucky and blessed.”
