Be it drama, horror, suspense, thriller or comedy, Ullu has it all! Allowing the users to access great original and syndicated content, round the clock. A new series called Halal recently streamed on that app, the web series was something different and totally worth watching.

The web series is based on the practice of Nikah Halala. According to this law, after the triple talaq, if the couple wishes to remarry her husband, she has to marry another man and consummate her marriage and only then she can get married to her first husband. It stars Deepika Singh, Ravi Bhatia, Shafaq Naaz and Eijaz Khan.

The web series revolves around the story of a newly-wed Muslim couple who have to negotiate with the practice of nikah halala after triple talaq. Afza (Shafaq Naaz) and Raahil (Ravi Bhatia) happy in a new marriage but Raahil gives triple talaq to Afza in a fit of rage. To save their broken marriage, Raahil takes his friend’s help, Zaid (Ejas Khan), as the only option left with them is nikah halala.

Nikaah means marriage and halala means to make lawful again a marriage that becomes unlawful after triple talaq. In the context of marriage, it means a divorced woman can remarry her former husband after she becomes halal (lawful) for her husband again after undergoing nikah halala. The practice, followed by certain sects of Sunni Muslims, involves a divorced woman marrying someone else and consummating it and then getting a divorce from him in order to remarry her previous husband.

It certainly is a must-watch, as it surely creates awareness about the illogical practise of Nikah Halala. We also get to know the problems that the women have to face because of such practises.
