On Thursday, an elephant at the Thiruvilwamala Vilwadrinatha Temple became aggressive. The rider of the tusker fell off and received minor injuries. On social media, a video of the man avoiding being trampled by the pachyderm’s foot has gone viral.

While temple staff member Kuniseri Swaminathan sat on the elephant, Adattu Paramu aka Panacherry Parameshwaram began to shake its body fiercely. Swaminathan collapsed on the floor.

The tusker then turned around and attempted to attack Swaminathan, but he was able to flee to safety.

According to Mathrubhumi, the tragedy occurred while the temple was preparing for the ‘Kazcha Seeveli’ ceremony. In Kerala temples, elephants are known to participate in daily worship ceremonies.

After receiving minor injuries, Swaminathan was taken to a hospital.

After more than an hour of effort, the elephant squad and social forest officers were able to bring Adattu Paramu under control. The temple’s ‘Deepasthambham’ was also damaged by the ferocious tusker.
