Nature is exciting, and netizens are frequently mesmerized when discovering some lesser-known facts. However, a video of a group of tortoises ‘running around’ on the internet has left many people perplexed. The movie was quickly proven to not contradict people’s knowledge of the species, but rather to be the result of a clever artist’s work.

While the classic “The Hare And The Tortoise” says that “slow and steady wins the race,” the viral video shows the animals racing around a yard. The internet went crazy when a video showing roughly seven of them went viral, with many people sharing it and claiming they were “having fun.” Some speculated that the poor animals had been “drugged.”

Despite the fact that many people on the internet were duped by the video because of its near-perfect likeness to the real animal, the film is actually a piece of art. The little film was created by Vernon James Manlapaz, an augmented-reality specialist, and was recently uploaded on his Instagram profile, where it went viral.

The LA-based artist is known for his fanciful and extremely believable animations, which have gone viral on multiple occasions.

Manlapaz previously told Colossal that his digital creations are a “mix of pre-planned notions and spontaneous inspiration” when discussing his work. The designer, who specializes in 3D animation and graphics, told the website that he keeps his cellphone and 360 digicams with him at all times so he can capture footage at any moment.
