Urvashi Radadiya, a Gujarati folk singer, released a video of herself portraying at a gathering commemorating Tulsi Vivah, a Hindu festival commemorating the ceremonial marriage of Tulsi and Lord Vishnu. It was observed on November 15th this year.

Urvashi sat on the stage, played the harmonium, and sang while a man approached her from behind and dumped a drum full of banknotes on her in the video. Money was also thrown at her by members of the audience. She calmly swept the excess cash notes from her harmonium and continued playing. Urvashi shared the video on Instagram and thanked everyone for their “invaluable love.” Among other things, she used the hashtag ‘money rain.’ The show was held in Ahmedabad, according to the geo-tag.

In the comments section, fans replied. “What will you do with that much money?” one inquired. Another user added, “It’s called magic in your voice…malhar=dhanvarsha,” referring to the raga linked with torrential rains. She received a lot of applause as well.

Urvashi is a well-known figure in Gujarati music, with hits including Dwarika, Bhav Na Fera, Nagar Nand Ji Na Lal, and Kasumbi No Rang. She also has a big Instagram following, with over two lakh followers. Her biography calls her the “queen of Gujarati folk.”

Urvashi’s Instagram page is chock-full of clips from her live performances around Gujarat, from Gandhinagar to Anjar in Kutch. She tweeted images of herself on stage at a tourism ministry event earlier this month. “Glimpse of @gujarattourism presents ‘MahaAarti Mahostav’,” she wrote.
