The end of August can only mean two things: post-holiday blues and keeping a close eye on the Venice Film Festival’s jaw-dropping dresses. Alternatively known as The Year’s Most Glamorous Event.

VFF is one of the world’s oldest film festivals (the first was held in 1932), and it’s a time when every actor worth his salt (as well as a scattering of supermodels) will parade in front of the cameras in only the best outfits. Amal Clooney’s lilac-hued Atelier Versace gown in 2017 and Sophia Loren’s legendary ’50s taffeta dress are two of our favorite looks from the past few years. Naturally, a plethora of diamonds adorns the outfit. A capital G means Glamour.

This year, though, we were unsure whether the magical celebration would take place. Thankfully, several celebrities have visited the Italian city. So, here are the 78th Venice Film Festival’s best-dressed ladies.

Bella Hadid

In a sleek black, low-cut Schiaparelli gown with a signature gold tree piece that doubles as both a necklace and décolleté covering, the supermodel continues to scorch the Cannes carpet.

Jennifer Lopez chose a white column gown by Georges Hobeika and Cartier jewelry to make her (second) red carpet debut with partner Ben Affleck, and no one could stop talking about it.

In September 2021, Jessica Chastain attended the Venice Film Festival.

On the red carpet for the film ‘Scenes From a Marriage (Ep. 1 and 2),’ Chastain wore Atelier Versace.
