We have a few fall mainstays that we wear year after year—ankle boots, jeans, and cashmere knits—and we think blazers should be on that list as well. Blazers may have started as one part of a standard office-ready suit, but they’ve evolved into their layering piece that can be worn to more than just a board meeting. Continue reading to find out which blazer types are popular right now, as well as how to wear them for optimum chicness.

1. Blazer on joggers

Pairing slouchy pants with a structured blazer is a must-have look for 2021. That isn’t to say that any old combination will work. Leave big silhouettes for lazing at home and opt for pants that are snug at the ankle rather than flare at the bottom. It’s all about finding that Goldilocks cut for the blazer that’s neither too tight nor too loose. Finish with a fitting top or bodysuit and a pair of comfortable shoes.

2. Crop top

This surprising trend was all over the runways for fall 2020, yet few people were opting for such rigid styles amid the epidemic. It’s finally hitting the streets a year later, with more cheap businesses releasing their interpretations of the trend. Wear your cropped blazer with a stylish shoe and high-waisted, straight-leg or boyfriend jeans.

3. Layer it one on the other

Yes, it’s also known as a suit, albeit it isn’t required. A monotone combination with a wool-cotton jacket and the same-hued denim or silk pants works just as well. The wide-leg silhouette gives your outfit a more bohemian vibe than typical workplace wear. An easy T-shirt, simple jewellery, and a slouchy tote or clutch are our go-to combinations when wearing a jacket and trousers. As per Pure Wow.

4. Leather touch

Pants, dresses, skirts, and, of course, jackets are all hot for fall/winter 2021, with leather and synthetic leather taking centre stage. When it comes to wearing a leather blazer, looser cuts and bigger proportions are the way to go but don’t limit yourself to neutral or even natural tones. Classic black is the most straightforward to wear, but light lilac is an unexpectedly stylish alternative.
