Speaking of Soya Chaap, it is a tandoori dish that is quite famous in the northern parts of India, which is made by roasting small chunks of soybean in a tandoor and served with onion, capsicum, and green mint chutney.

Here’s the recipe: Punjabi soya chaap recipe is a two-step process that first includes marinating and frying the soya meat and then preparing the gravy.

Firstly, remove wooden sticks from the soya meat and then cut the chaap into round pieces. Then, marinate the chaap with salt, ginger-garlic paste, curd, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Next, mix the ingredients to coat each piece with the marinade masala and keep aside for 30 minutes. Then, heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the round pieces till golden brown and transfer the fried soya chunks to a bowl and set aside.

To prepare the gravy, blend fresh tomatoes, ginger, garlic, Kashmiri red chilies, and hot water to a smooth paste. Then, heal oil in a pan and add the masala mixture and saute for 40 – 50 seconds, till the aroma releases. Then, add onion and tomato paste, turmeric, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook over low heat till oil oozes out from the masala and add water to make gravy, kasuri methi, and garam masala.

Lastly, add fried soya chaap, mix, and simmer the curry once again covered for 5 minutes. Now, garnish with fresh coriander leaves, and serve!
