Getting anxious is pretty normal. Everyone experiences some level of anxiousness in their life. It is when that anxiety comes in the way of doing the things you need to do when you need some extra help. Social anxiety especially can be quite draining in the social society we live in. Here are some tips and tricks you can use to be more confident. Check it out:

1) Be aware of your body language.
Nonverbal communication is quite an important task as well. While it’s not as easy as talking in a conversation, others can unconsciously pick up on your postures and your body language. No slouching, or looking to the ground. Stand straight and make eye contact even if for a second or two.

2) Be mindful of your tone of voice.
When you are mindful of the things in your day, others will feel at ease and you will be confident. Speak clearly.

3) Become a better listener.
The best way to seem more confined and secure in social situations is to appear to be a better listener. Try to put your phone down, take your earbud out and try to listen to what the person is saying. Look directly at the person who’s talking.

4) Check the facts.
When your thoughts start to focus more on the anxious outcomes, just go through some facts of the situation. For example, if you are invited to a party by your friend when dealing with anxious thoughts, the fact that they invited you gets lost! So, if you get anxious about what your friends will think about you showing up at the party, you have to remind yourself that they invited you!

5) Smile.
Smiling isn’t just about an outward gesture towards others! Smiling can change your brain chemistry. Smiling can improve your body and it also gets others to respond positively. It makes you seem approachable and confident.
