Abhishek Nigam aka Veer spilling beans about his fitness regime

What does fitness mean to you?

To me, fitness means being happy from within and feeling healthy. Every activity done, be it running or exercising, should give us a sense of fitness. The body should be free from diseases. I believe that the person who feels healthy and is super-charged is always fit.

How do you keep a healthy balance between your mind and your body?

I always try to control, keep a tab on my portion size whenever I eat. In believe in maintaining the balance at all times. Whenever you eat right, it always have a healthy impact on your mind. Say you overstuff yourself, you’d always feel exhausted and dull. So, eating healthy and in portion is the key to maintain a balance between the mind and your body.

Following your demanding and hectic routine, how do you manage to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle?

I always keep my diet according to my workload and schedule and never try to maintain any hard-core diet to attain fitness. I give my body just the amount of fuel it needs. Whenever I have more of a fighting sequence in the shoot, I try having heavy breakfast, lunch and keep my body hydrated by drinking enough water. The days when I have a rather relaxed day at work, I choose to go easy on my meals as well. I make sure it’s right and easily digestible so that I feel agile.

What is your ideal workout regime?

For me, an ideal workout is something energizes me rather than getting me exhausted. I generally don’t work out daily since I have a very hectic schedule at shoot. My work out regime comprises of 3-4 days a week routine which I follow religiously. I believe in an effective workout routine and try to be efficient rather than incorporating extreme hours to just somehow reach my goals.

Your roles require you to maintain a fit body, what did you incorporate in your fitness regime?

Before this show, my regime revolved around weightlifting and body-building workouts. After I got Hero-Gayab Mode On, where I am playing the character of Veer who is a stuntman by profession. This character required a lean yet athletic look for which I have incorporated more cardio like skipping, running, martial arts and acrobats which helps me in achieve the athletic look.

Any quick healthy snack that you rely on during your busy days?

A quick healthy snack for me is my Protein bar and Protein shake. Sometimes, I prefer having Paani-Puri as it is one of my favourites and I don’t resist myself from enjoying it whenever I can.

One food item that you simply cannot resist.

It has to be Paani-Puri, I just can’t resist it.

What kind of music do you like listening to while you work out?

I enjoy upbeat music gives me an adrenaline rush while working out. I feel it adds to motivation of giving your 100% and you are pumped to push your limits.

What motivates you towards fitness?

Focusing on fitness comes naturally to me. I enjoy being fit. Fitness is a choice and I strongly believe everyone should choose that for themselves.

 Any Fitness tips for your admirers?

The only tip for my admirers is that one should eat everything but always have control over the portion size. One should always eat according to their workload and daily schedule.
