Interior design is an art and a science at the same time. There are so many trends that we have experimented with since the beginning of the era. While some looks worked, some have just been horrendous. Here are 6 of the most hideous interior concepts of the 21st century!

1) Bathroom Carpets:
Adding a carpet could be extra decor and can add to the aesthetic of your room. But when done in the bathroom it’s a trap for all kinds of germs and dirt.

2) Faux Finishes:
Faux paint finishes got popular during the ’80s and ‘90s. But the trend saw a huge revival of the look. This trend looks overdone and dated. Painting over the faux finish will immediately freshen your home!

3) Matching Patterns:
Matching different patterns is an art. There are quite a few practices to follow and know of when matching different patterns. And most times it’s not too bad… Adding too many patterns can look cluttered and disorganized.

4) Taxidermy:
This one doesn’t need an explanation. This trend is just not right and can be downright creepy.

5) Leopard Prints:
This trend has been the topic of debate for many. Leopard prints can be quite the wild look when it comes to outfits and accessories, but they can be quite the mess when used in interiors.

6) Wall words:
We’ve heard of living a fairy tale, but this particular trend feels like living in a self-help book! Wall decor with inspirational quotes all over the house can feel quite forced and awkward.
