Every living room has a couch as the focal point, and the couch’s design determines the theme of the space. However, given that the current millennial trend is trending towards basic, aesthetically modern, and contemporary pieces, choosing the appropriate home décor collection becomes crucial to complement the couch style.

The days of having only brown and grey couches are long gone because most people today prefer to use aesthetic décor items to provide a pop of color, energy, and originality to their living area. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Mathew Joseph, CEO and Co-Founder of Sleepyhead, and Vansikha Nahata, CEO of The June Shop, shared some tips for helping you design the living room of your dreams by picking the appropriate couch and complementary furnishings:

1. Mid-Century Style – A sofa should be in a lovely color, such as royal blue, ash grey, or ivory white, if you want a mid-century contemporary appearance. Accessorize the couch with cushion coverings in striped, geometric, or abstract patterns, and place a fur rug beneath the sofa or couch to achieve this contemporary look. For a vintage vibe, place some old vases on the side table. Alternatively, you can liven up the space with Nordic or contemporary vase reed diffusers.

2. Traditional Minimalist – Choose a couch with a straightforward pattern if your taste is traditional. To add some flair, hang a wooden ornament, piece of wall art, planter, or decoration. Use an indigo-printed pillow cover or a handwoven cushion to achieve the proper traditional yet minimalist aesthetic.

3. Bring Outdoor Vintage Patterns Inside – This is a fantastic way to bring color and pattern to your home. On carpets, pillows, and other objects used in home décor, these patterns can be employed as ornamentation. Vintage throws are also ideal for giving your living area a splash of color.

4. Elegant Vintage Look With Minimalism – This look is classic, modest, and elegant. All three are combined, but there is also a tinge of elegance and wealth. If you want a minimalist look, one of your options can be a vintage accent sofa.
