New things are not always the answers! Sometimes it’s wiser to settle for renovations. Be it an excess of sentiments or a lack of finances, sometimes renovations are the only way to go! Well, here is something to make the process a bit simpler! Here are 10 things that your renovation contractor wants to make sure of while working on your home! Take a look:

1) They have their own team of specialists. Sometimes people tend to suggest a few people for some of the renovations. But your renovation contractor already has a team that they have worked with.

2) They don’t want to reuse. Renovations are about making new. And while vintage stuff can be quite a classy look most renovators don’t want to reuse your old stuff.

3) Renovation contractor’s allegiance lies with his team. They might be willing to pull a person you have an issue with from the project. However, they are still supportive of their team over you since they have worked with their people for longer than they have worked on your house.

4) They are not trying to make more work for themselves. While there are definitely cons out there who might go down this path, this doesn’t represent every renovation contractor!

5) Don’t pressure them to bend to your vision of what you want your house to look like. They are renovators, not magicians. They can’t get you a permit for anything and everything.

6) They need to know that you are confident that they can carry out your vision and you think that they are best suited for the job!

7) The final markup fee is not negotiable. The contractor always works with the clients rather than against them! They have years of experience to know where they can cut back and where they can’t.

8) Don’t hold back on your view! Be as detailed about what you want because anything you hold back can cause resentment that leads to lawsuits.

9) If possible, they want you out of the house as most renovations cause a safety issue and a space issue.

10) As long as you have a job that they are experienced dealing with and you are easy enough to work with, they want the job. And they want to do business with you!
