Our brave soldiers keep us safe from enemies and terror attacks. They are ensuring that our borders are safe. No amount of words can describe the pride and emotions of patriotism. Our brave soldiers gave up their life and we can imagine the pain endured by the families. There are various instances when Indian army wives honoured their martyred husbands & join the army. Here we look at five such instances.

1) CAPTAIN SHALINI SINGH.

She got married at the age of 19 and her husband became a martyr against a group of terrorists. She faced many hurdles, including bringing her toddler and parents along. On 7 Oct. 2002, this brave woman was inducted as an officer in the army and served for five years.

2) LIEUTENANT PRIYA SEMWAL.

She got married in 2006 and she lost her husband in 2012 at hilly Tawang. She was the first army wife of non commissioned officer to join the army after clearing exams.

3) LIEUTENANT NEETA DESWAL.

After Major Amit Deswal attained martyrdom in 2016, his wife Neeta Deswal joined the OTA by Army’s Services Selection Board, Bhopal.

4) LIEUTENANT NIKITA KAUL.

She is the wife of Pulwama hero Late Army Major, who made the nation proud when she decided to join the Indian Army. She cleared her exam six months post her husband was martyred while serving the nation.

5) FLYING OFFICER GARIMA ABROL.

In the Mirage 2000 fighter crash, her husband was martyred. She completed her training at Air Force Academy and joined the Indian Air force as an officer. She is serving the nation bravely by following in the footsteps of her husband.
