Among all seasons, the monsoon is undoubtedly the best season. Sitting by the window and sipping a cup of hot coffee as you watch the rain pouring outside. A lot has been written about this rainy season. It’s better to read books about rain along with a cup of coffee, truly amazing!!

1. JARA BRISHTI TE BHIJECHILO: JOY GOSWAMI.

In this partly autobiographical novel, the rain is not the backdrop, but a character. The book draws you nearer to the dormant verse in the composition, common of bliss.

2. BORSHAMONGOL, SRIJATO.

The book is dedicated to all the lost umbrellas. It’s a collection of poems, you will surely read when it’s raining. This youthful writer with a heartfelt heart has depicted storms in Kolkata, even the waterlogged roads make you hopelessly enamored.

3. THE BLUE UMBRELLA: RUSKIN BOND.

This book is also best to read in monsoon. The blue umbrella will transport you to the rolling hills of Himachal Pradesh, where rain paints a picture pretty enough to make you forget this concrete jungle.

4. GOLPOGUCCHO, RABINDRANATH TAGORE.

In these short storybooks, lots of time rain’s presence surfaces. Recollect the unfortunate blustery night when Kadambari needed to demonstrate she had not passed on by kicking the bucket in downpour playing cupid. There are numerous such instances when rain cast a spell of Tagore’s magical touch.

5. CHASING THE MONSOON: ALEXANDER FRATER.

It feels like raining through the book, when you read Alexander Frater’s book, Chasing the monsoon. The creator chose to follow the path of the Indian Monsoon. His bizarre experiences mixed with Indian history makes this book more interesting to read.
