One thing that absolutely makes me wonder about the possibilities that a man creates for himself and his society through taking risks and proving himself in action that it was worth it. In my opinion that is the most valuable thing in the world.
In his book “Range”, David Epstein says that experimenting in different areas of interests really helps one carve his way to success and also establishes the genuineness of the passion of being involved. Most successful people follow a plan and that works for them but there are some contrarians who experiment and choose to make a difference.
Pranay Vivek Patil is one such contrarian who chose to do something that someone rarely would do and that is to quit a promising career in engineering to help the rural people in Karnataka get access to basic facilities like education, healthcare and food. These are basic necessities but the difference that they will make in their lives, in the long run, will be immense.
When we asked Pranay that how he got the idea of getting into the field of social work and rural upliftment, he told us that ever since he was in school, he would often volunteer for any work that serves a social cause. Once, he got an opportunity to visit Bhuj to help people overcome the tragedy of Gujarat Earthquake in 2001 and that is when he decided that after completing his education, he will return back to his passion of helping people because this is what made him feel happy.
Pranay completed his mechanical engineering from Aachen, Germany where his conscientious introspection made him realise everything that he does not want to do in his life and doing a job was one of them. So, he returned back to India and started living in a village to understand the rural lifestyle and their hardships so that he could help them with all his might and this is what happened, soon he figured out his move. He started involving himself more and more in raising his voice for their rights and helping them get better education and healthcare.
Pranay has got it all. He has the charisma, will and brains that takes to make a great social worker. Pranay credits a lot of his success to the great ideological foundation that his grandfather and father have built for the people they were serving. Pranay’s father is an MLC and his grandfather was a great freedom fighter.
To take his grandfather’s legacy forward, Pranay has started “Mahakali Educational Society” which is running and providing education to the underprivileged section of the rural Indian society. As of now, there are 32 schools which are providing quality and free education to underprivileged children. He has been actively organising health camps in the region to make sure that people live their lives healthy and happily.
It is Pranay’s vision and sheer hard work that he has been able to manifest his world view. Pranay V. Patil is the icon that we all should look up to.
