Maharashtra offers excellent trekking options due to its numerous hill stations. Some hiking trails take you through scenic areas, while others take you through historic places. Trekking can be done for a variety of reasons, including to obtain an adrenaline rush, to become one with nature, to lose weight, or to simply contemplate.

Pune Torna Trek – 1403 m

Torna is a large fort in Pune’s district that Shivaji Maharaj first conquered. Torna Fort is the highest hill-fort in Pune’s area and a popular monsoon trekking destination, standing at 4,603 feet.

Rajgad Fort -1400 meters

Rajgad is a 4250-foot-tall mountain fort that is one of Pune’s most popular trekking destinations, especially after the monsoon. The fort site, which offers spectacular perspectives of the Sahyadri Mountains, attracts trekkers and daring visitors.

Salher, Nasik– 1648 m

The highest fort in Maharashtra is Salher, which is located in the Nasik district. The fort is the highest hill-fort and the second-highest peak in the Sahyadris range. The Salher trek takes roughly 3 hours from the Salherwadi or Maghembe base village to the peak.

Alang Fort, Nashik – 1371 m

Alang Fort, one of Maharashtra’s most difficult treks, is part of the Kalsubai range. The most challenging hikes in the Nasik district are AMK, or Alang, Mandangad, and Kulang.

Harihar Fort, Igatpuri – 1120 m

The fort of Harihar, north of Igatpuri in the Tryambak range, is an interesting trek built on a triangular rock. The steep slopes make the Harihar fort difficult to climb, although it affords magnificent views of the surrounding area.
