Apoorva Singh is excited and upbeat about her upcoming big screen debut with the action-thriller Tamil film, Diesel, written and directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy in his directorial debut and produced by Third Eye Entertainment and SP Cinemas. The film stars Harish Kalyan and Athulya Ravi in the lead roles, with Vinay Rai playing the main antagonist. The film will see a big bang Diwali release on 17 October.
Apoorva, who is a North Indian, hailing from Delhi, moved to Mumbai for work. She has been part of the TV shows Detective Didi, Pushpa Impossible, and has done a few web series and commercials. She is extremely grateful to the Tamil Industry for giving an outsider like her a chance to play a significant role.
Talking about her character in the film, Apoorva says, “I play a very important role in Diesel. The character has a lot of importance in turning the climax. If I talk about the plot now, it might unveil the story. We are just a few days away from the release. All I can say is that my role will have a huge impact on the film.”
It is a dream come true for Apoorva to be a part of the cinema world. “Entering the Tamil industry is one of the most remarkable happenings in my career. I have always wanted to work in cinema, and getting an opportunity right at my door is a huge thing to crack.”
On her experience on the set of Diesel, she shares, “My experience working with the Tamil industry is beyond words. People are so professional. Of course, there were challenges with the language. But the team was very supportive. I would especially want to thank my Director, Shanmugam Muthuswamy, who has always been there, standing by my side as my pillar of support, not just in filmmaking, but has also treated me like his child. Honestly speaking, I felt like a Queen on the set; they pampered me a lot. The whole cast and crew of Diesel has become a family. Our Producer Deva is a gentleman.”
Talking about the leads, Harish and Athulya, Apoorva avers, “I have my scenes with Harish and Athulya. They are amazing actors and are big names in the South industry. Above all, they are amazing human beings. I was scared to face them in the scene initially. When we met and talked, they were so friendly that it was easy to shoot with them.”
Ask her about her upcoming projects, and she says, “My only focus right now is Diesel. It is my debut film and it is huge. I have two more projects in pipeline, which are Tamil films.”
Diesel which will release on 17 October, as part of the Diwali releases, has received a positive feedback. “Diesel is Harish’s first action-packed film. It is going to be on fire. We have got amazing comments so far. One of our songs has hit 70 million views on YouTube. It was a sensation all over the net. I have seen people making reels from Japan, Korea, and from every nook and corner of the globe. We are positive and look forward to the release. Musically, the film is nice. The action is outstanding. The film is going to be a treat to the eyes and ears.”
