Chris Hemsworth actually played Captain Kirk’s father, George Kirk, in Star Trek (2009), which began the current Star Trek film series. He revealed that he took an audition for the role of Captain James Kirk but was not chosen because the project was still in its early stages. Chris Hemsworth also claimed that he was cast right away and had no idea how big the movie would be. He added that if he had learned the venture was valued at $150 million, he would have been terrified. Breaking through into the film world is incredibly tricky. It could be even harder to maintain and climb higher with larger and greater components once the first break occurs. Chris Hemsworth witnessed it directly. However, while playing a pivotal role with one of the most enduring series of all time, he struggled to find work once Star Trek was over.
