Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, mononymously known as Vijay is quite the popular star of the Tamil film industry. The actor has worked in quite a few hit movies and has garnered a massive following over the years. His career in acting started at quite a young age.
The actor first began his journey to stardom as a child artist. He made his debut as a child artist at the age of 11 with the 1984 movie, Vetri. He went on to perform in more movies till his 1998 movie, Engal Neethi. The year 1992 was the first time he was featured as the lead role in the movie Naalaiya Theerpu.
In his first movie, Vetri, the actor played the role of a character sharing the same name, Vijay. The movie was directed by his father, SA Chandrasekhar. His father revealed that Vijay likes the name Vijay and in many movies, he names his heroes Vijay, including his son.
Vijay has appeared in quite a few of his dad’s movies. 11 movies were directed by his father where the actor starred as a character named Vijay. Even in his debut movie as the main lead, in Naalaiya Theerpu, he played the character of a student leader named Vijay. There are quite a few other movies too! In Sendhoorapandi he starred as Vijayakanth, and in Rasigan, his screen name was Vijay.
Vijay used his real name as his screen name in his movies that were released in the years 1993 and 1994. The last movie where Vijay used the screen name Vijay was Priyamaanavale in 2000.
