It’s no news that the Chennai Express actress Deepika Padukone had to face a major backlash from the netizens after her JNU visit back in 2020 on a political matter. The incident took a blow all over the internet.

The incident took place when the actress was all busy promoting her film Chappak, which painted the life story of an acid attack survivor. The actor visited the JNU campus to stand with the students in solidarity, who suffered due to an attack in early 2020.

However, it was then when Athiya Shetty came out all for support for the actress saying, to ETimes, “I think it was extremely courageous. It is very easy to sit behind a computer screen or a phone and comment. However, to show up and to be part of a movement or part of something, it takes a lot of guts. You need to be extremely brave and that is what she is.” as quoted by Koi Moi.
