On June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky, John Christopher “Johnny” Depp II was born to civil engineer John Christopher Depp and waitress Betty Sue Palmer (née Wells). His upbringing was in Florida. When he was 15 years old, he quit school and fronted many music-garage bands, including one called “The Kids.” He accepted a job as a ballpoint pen salesperson after being married to Lori A.
