Versatile performer Kishori Shahane has been a renowned celebrity in the Hindi and Marathi film circuits. She is an effortless actor and we know it!! She was recently seen in the role of Bhavani Chavan in Star Plus’ Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. Now, she is seen playing Babita Ahuja in Zee TV’s Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. She is now joining the path of her Director/ Producer husband Deepak Balraj Vij, and has turned Producer for a film on Sai Baba titled Malik Ek. The film is based on the philosophies of the holy saint Shri Saibaba. It stars Jackie Shroff in the role of Sai Baba. The cast includes stalwarts like Smriti Irani, Divya Dutta, Govind Namdeo, Shakti Kapoor, Kishori Shahane.
We at IWMBuzz.com contacted Kishori Shahane about this new addition to her feathery cap.
Says Kishori, “I have been there in this film industry for many years now, and I have stopped counting over it now (smiles). Being an actor has been a big experience in my life, working with so many accomplished Producers and Directors.”
Talking about the idea of making this film she states, “My husband Deepak Balraj Vij, has been an ace film-maker with six silver jubilees, Jaan Tere Naam with Ronit Roy, Hafta Bandh with Jackie Shroff, Sailaab with Madhuri Dixit. He’s been a Director in Hindi and Marathi films.
Being his wife and part and parcel of this industry, we formed a team to produce projects. When this idea came up to produce a film on Sai Baba’s philosophy, we felt it was a brilliant idea. Earlier, my husband produced the film Shirdi Sai Baba, and it was liked by one and all. We felt there was so much to explore on the holy saint’s journey.”
“I took the initiative to produce this film. It’s called Malik Ek and is on my banner Om Mantra Productions. We have roped in as many big actors as we could. It is a huge-budget film. It was a humongous task as a Producer for me to handle everything on set. The journey of making this film has taught me so much. I feel blessed that Sai Baba chose me to produce this film,” she adds.
Talking about having the great performer Jackie Shroff as Sai Baba, she states, “Jackie Shroff pulled it off very well in the role of Sai Baba. He is exceptional. Honestly, when we approached him with this offer, he was shocked and wondered how he could play Sai Baba. He took six months to give his consent. It is a wonderful film, I pray and wish that everyone takes blessings through this film.”
