Ashutosh Gowariker in 2009 IFFA awards got upset with Priyanka Chopra, for bagging an award for her movie Fashion, the director went upright and questioned PeeCee that how did she bag the award, when Aishwarya was too nominated for the same category.
The director asked, “Priyanka I love you, but I don’t know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for Jodhaa Akbar.”, and then adding to that, he also said, “Maybe it is because you are very hard-working and she is a natural”.
However, later it was also known that it was Jaya Bachchan who told Ashutosh Gowariker to bring the question on the stage. Revealing the same, and clarifying the fact that why Ashutosh Gowariker brought Jaya Bachchan’s name in it, the actress said, “First of all it is being presumed that Ashutosh unnecessarily mentioned my name regarding Aishwarya’s omission from the awards. The fact is, I suggested he bring up the question on stage at IIFA. We were discussing why Aishwarya has not been given any award for Jodha Akbar and I suggested Ashutosh bring up the matter. So when he mentioned my name he wasn’t doing anything wrong.” as quoted by Koi Moi
