Within two days after Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox announced their engagement on their respective Instagram accounts, a fad for toi et moi (You and Me) rings was born, and it’s catching on like the couple’s passionate fire. The fact that it was created by cult jeweler Stephen Webster only adds to its allure in the world of engagement rings. Traditional toi et moi rings, which initially became popular in the 17th century, are more innovative and particular to the pair than Megan Fox and Colson Baker’s (Kelly’s real name) design. It’s edgy yet seductive at the same time, thanks to the expert craftsmanship, gorgeous stones, and rock and roll ethos that marks Webster’s designs.

“The design consists of two interlocking thorn bands, each holding one of the two wonderfully shaped pear-shaped stones,” he says. “Pavé set with colorless natural diamonds in 18K white gold. The diamond is a D color antique cut, and the emerald is a rare Colombian gem that has never been treated.” It’s one-of-a-kind and based on Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox’s connection and information. Kelly posted a video of Fox wearing the ring, while Fox posted a video of the proposal, and both waxed poetic about their relationship and engagement on their Instagram profiles.

“I know tradition calls for one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: an emerald (her birthstone) and a diamond (my birthstone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two parts of the same soul, making the enigmatic heart that is our love.”

Toi et moi rings have been used throughout history to represent two souls becoming one. They were set with two gems close to each other, which translated to you and me. “I know the tradition is one ring, but I created it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birthstone) and the diamond (my birthstone) placed on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two sides of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” Kelly says on Instagram.
