Monami Ghosh is one of the most talented and prettiest actresses of the Bengali regional film industry. This quintessential ‘Bengali beauty’ is now back with Mouchaak, her upcoming web series that’s streaming exclusively on Hoichoi. Interestingly, the web series also marks her digital debut. Monami engaged in an exclusive tete a tete with IWMBuzz where she talks about her character, preparation, digital debut & more. Read to find out –

Tell us a bit about your character in Mouchaak? Why did the character fascinate you?

The moment I heard of my character, Mou, in Mouchaak, I instantly realized that it’s a character that I’ve never portrayed before in my acting career nor have my fans seen me playing such a role. It’s a completely different character and a fascinating one too. I don’t think there could be a bigger and ‘dhamakedar’ web debut for me and that’s the reason Mouchaak fascinated and drew me in.

The plot seems quite interesting about how a lottery ticket can bring a sea change in one’s life. Did you ever personally try your hand in lottery in reality?

The plot of Mouchaak is very interesting. In fact, after seeing the teaser poster of Mouchaak, where there is a lottery ticket tucked into Mou’s waist, people guessed that the series revolved around a lottery ticket. Personally, I have been tempted to buy a lottery ticket, especially when the horoscope says it’s going to be a lucky day. But, I’ve never really purchased one. Mouchaak is my lottery, my jackpot!

What about Kanchan Mallick? He is so amazing and can perform any character with perfection? Tell us about your working experience with Kanchan Mallick and your bonding with him?

The experience of working with Kachan da was absolutely brilliant. He’s a great actor with an incredible sense of comic timing. We’ve previously worked together and got along very well off-screen. In Mouchaak, you’ll see our characters fighting and arguing a lot, and even for a fight to look natural, you need chemistry, which I believe we had. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

This also marks your digital debut. Why did you select this project for your digital debut?

For my digital debut, I had a few criteria in mind. I wanted my entry to be ‘dhamakedar’. I wanted the name of the series to be an introduction to my character name – like Mouchaak’er Mou, and Mouchaak ticked all of those boxes. Hence, I selected this project as my digital debut.

Since this is your digital debut, were you extra cautious about the script you chose compared to other times?

Like I mentioned earlier, I have never portrayed a character like Mou, it is something new for me and my audiences as well. The plot and script were really good and for the series to be on a platform like Hoichoi was the ‘cherry on top’. I couldn’t have asked for a better digital debut.

Lastly, a message for all fans, and what makes Mouchaak a unique watch for them?

I would request my fans to watch Mouchaak on Hoichoi as it starts streaming from 18th June. I am confident that everyone is going to be entertained, especially during this lockdown situation. The story is packaged in such a way that if you get distracted even for a second, you will miss out on something or the other. So, ensure that you keep your popcorn ready and enjoy the series.
