World Peace Ambassador Ratan Pratap has found himself embroiled in controversy. Amid the pandemic, celebrities travelling and getting spotted at the airport is common. What is not common is the stars removing their face mask for pictures. Ratan Pratap, who became a popular name in India after hosting a bunch of dance reality shows and digital shows, was spotted at Mumbai International Airport on 22nd of April 2021. Soon enough pictures of Ratan from the airport arrival went viral as he removed his mask while posing for the shutterbugs. The host received flack on social media for doing so.
Our team reached out to Ratan Pratap to clear the air. He clarified, “I was returning from Nagpur. When I was exiting Mumbai airport post landing, the photographers requested me to take my mask off so that they can get a picture. And I am aware of the job they are assigned and that they need good pictures in order to be able to do their job. Hence, I obliged and took my mask off for about 10 seconds. They were all in their face masks and were more than 6 feet away from me. I felt it was safe and I pulled my mask down. However, looking back I realise why some people might have gotten upset. It was definitely irresponsible of me to remove my mask even for 10 seconds. I do not encourage anyone to do so, especially with everything going on right now. We should all be in our masks when in public and follow guidelines laid out for us. It is for our own benefit”.
Ratan Pratap, who is speculated to make his acting debut in the coming year, enjoys a great following on social media. His every move is currently observed and analysed by all. Does he feel the pressure of being in the limelight? “I don’t feel the pressure. I am living my life as any normal person would. I make mistakes, I am not perfect. Each day I am learning something new. I have no problems with being criticised either. People are allowed to voice their opinion. If they think I did something wrong they have all the right to point that out. I don’t expect the public to keep praising me constantly for no reason”, he elaborated.
Lesser known fact about this airport arrival is that Ratan was returning after attending his best friend’s final rites. Upon looking closely we could see that he was in a disturbed state of mind. Ratan also posted about his friend’s demise on his social media. “It’s a very difficult time for me. Losing someone close to you isn’t easy. However, I have already said whatever it is I wanted to say about it on my Instagram. I don’t wish to speak more about it on a public platform”, he concluded.
