Bella and Gigi Hadid are two of the most well-known supermodels in the world, but their accomplishments are a result of the work ethic that their mother, Yolanda Hadid, instilled in them while she was modeling. Yolanda’s parenting style with her daughters has received criticism frequently throughout their careers. Among other things, she has been referred to as a “toxic parent.”
It’s no secret that Yolanda raised Gigi and Bella under some rather stringent guidelines, especially considering how public their childhoods were.
Yolanda stated in an interview with Elle that she did not permit her daughters to pursue modeling until they were 18 years old. “I didn’t want people to evaluate them solely based on their appearance. I believe that by allowing them to experience and be who they truly are as people, they developed a lot of strength,” she spoke to Elle. Although Gigi did pose for Guess when she was just two years old in 1997, she ultimately took a hiatus from the profession to focus on her studies and didn’t return until 2011, when she reached 18 and was able to work again in the industry.
Gigi and Yolanda are seen talking in an unearthed film from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” about Gigi’s wish to rejoin her club volleyball team, according to the Daily Mail.
In reaction, her mother worried that Gigi would become too “bulky” from the sport and be unable to flourish as a runway model. “An extremely male-dominated sport is volleyball. “Modeling an extremely feminine item,” When Gigi was 17 years old, Yolanda informed her.
In a confessional, Yolanda says, “She’s got to start establishing her profession, and sometimes that means we have to give up the things we want to do.”
Despite Bella and Gigi’s fame and money, Yolanda said in an interview with People that she wanted to keep them grounded.
Yolanda stressed the significance of imparting to her girls the knowledge that because of their enormous platforms, they have the ability to connect with people through all avenues.
“Every day, I ask my children, ‘God has given you this platform; what are you going to do with it?'” Yolanda disclosed to People. “It’s not about sharing attractive selfies. I want them to be wonderful people who can change the world.”
Yolanda also mentioned how social media has altered the modeling business.
“We lacked a voice when I was modeling. We were merely a lovely face. That has entirely altered the world of today. You possess a platform. You must lead a moral life and serve as an example for others.”
