Nayanthara is one name in the South film fraternity who literally needs no introduction. She’s one of the few female actors who has the ability to draw large audiences inside the cinemas for her movies. Her enigmatic screen presence is a visual delight for all her fans and no wonder she’s been given the tag of the ‘Lady Superstar’ by her fans and admirers.
But readers, forget ‘Lady Superstar’ which is Nayanthara’s other name. Do you know that the name Nayanthara herself is not her own? Well, you will certainly be surprised to read the reason below.
As per reports in TOI, Nayanthara’s actual name is Diana and her screen name was changed to Nayanthara by her debut film director Sathyan Anthikkad because he felt the name Diana might not work in the South film industry. Henceforth out of many options, Nayanthara was the name chosen for her as Nayanthara meant ‘star’ and it would be a name that would work even in Bollywood aka Hindi film industry.
