Thomas Stanley Holland was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, to comedian and novelist Dominic Holland (Dominic Anthony Holland) and photographer Nicola Elizabeth (Frost). His paternal grandparents came from Ireland and the Isle of Man, respectively. Paddy, the twins Sam and Harry, and his parents and three younger brothers live with him. Tom studied at Donhead Prep. He afterward enrolled at Wimbledon College after passing the eleven-plus exam. After successfully completing his GCSEs, Tom enrolled in the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, known for its illustrious alumni, in September 2012 to begin a two-year degree.
Holland picked up dancing in a hip hop class at Wimbledon, London’s Nifty Feet Dance School. When he performed with his dancing school as part of the Richmond Dance Festival in 2006, choreographer Lynne Page (who was a colleague of Peter Darling, the choreographer of Billy Elliot and Billy Elliot the Musical) saw his potential. On June 28, 2008, Tom made his West End debut in Billy Elliot the Musical as Michael, Billy’s best friend, following eight auditions and a further two years of preparation. On September 8, 2008, he performed for the first time as Billy, earning glowing reviews for his adaptable acting and dancing abilities.
Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” admitted that he gave in to the urge to play a practical joke while filming the newest Marvel film. In the December 17 film “No Way Home,” which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, this will be his sixth appearance. With safety measures in place, the movie was shot during the coronavirus pandemic. In a Thursday appearance on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Holland said that he played a practical joke on co-producer Mitch Bell by using a bottle of lube to help Bell remove his tight Spider-Man suit.
The actor remembers Bell mistaking Holland’s lube for hand sanitizer and chose not to correct the producer. He approaches me while conversing and asks, “Hey dude, can I get some of that hand sanitizer?” stated Holland. “Then, when I turn to face my brother Harry [Holland], I think, ‘This is about to be brilliant’.” The “Cherry” actor said, “So I’m putting all the stuff on him, I’m squeezing it, squeezing it, squeezing it.” He then turns around and leaves the scene, saying, “This goddamn hand sanitizer won’t go.
Holland explained during his late-night appearance that due to the tight fit of his superhero suit, the zippers occasionally get trapped, and it turns into “a nightmare.” The lube helps to make the zippers unstuck, and he said, “I’ll have like half of it off, and I’m like, ‘Please just get this thing off me. Holland struggled to take off the garment and remarked, “It’s not pretty, it’s not flattering. It’s a difficult time.
