We’re not sure what it is, but Shahid Kapoor and his stylist Anisha Jain have been nailing every public engagement this year from a sartorial standpoint. From a Game of Thrones-inspired kurta to one of the most elegantly constructed costumes we’ve seen at any award show this year, Shahid’s year has undoubtedly been his. And this is without taking into account Kabir Singh’s huge success. Shahid was dressed impeccably in a cream-coloured kurta for one of the many Diwali celebrations that Shahid and Mira attended this year, and it was one of the finer ones we’ve seen this year. Designer Kunal Rawal created the sartorial masterpiece, and we have to say that calling the kurta exquisite is an understatement. First and foremost, we must evaluate the embroidery. We love how it shows out against the silk, cream-coloured backdrop. It’s simple yet elegant.

Then there’s the kurta’s actual structure. The kurta has an unusual appeal, with an open placket and a shirt-like structure, and should be popular throughout this year’s wedding season. Finally, there’s the way Shahid wears his kurta in the most relaxed and faux-blase way possible. The folded and exaggerated cuffs, along with this, make the kurta an item that should be in any man’s closet. We must also notice Anisha’s deeply tanned oxfords, which she has combined with the kurta. Chappals and mojaris appear to be out of style, and this year we’ll see a lot of guys wearing monk straps with kurtas. Not that we have anything against the combination; it does look lovely and has a royal aspect about it. When it comes to all things regal, we can’t forget about Ishaan Khatter and his monochromatic, all-black ensemble. Trust us when we say that if you want to go for a monochromatic style while wearing ethnic clothing, this is the way to go. A loose-fitting kurta with beautiful embroidery catches the eye, and in a good way. Plus, the black oxfords that have been coupled with the kurta combination are subtle.
