An Akshay Kumar film is once a quarter phenomenon. The superstar brings 3-4 films a year and hence, it seems like such a long wait that it would be more than half a year after Jolly LLB 3 (Sep’25) that a film of his would be arriving, what with Bhooth Bangla all set to hit the screens on 10th April.

This would be a wait of almost 7 months and if early signals are anything to go by, the wait is certainly going to be worth it.

In the times when one is deprived of a genuine horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla promises to bring back the legacy created by Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan with Bhool Bhulaiyaa that was set up almost two decades back in 2007. The film was a banger no less and while the actor-director combo had created magic in films before (Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagat Bhag) and after (De Dana Dan, Khatta Meetha) as well, there is a gap of more than a decade that the duo is reuniting.

While one still waits for the trailer of the film to be out, producers Ekta Kapoor and Akshay Kumar have done well enough to kickstart the promotional campaign with the title song “Ramji Bhala Karenge”. The Pritam composed song is an instant chartbuster and is already giving solid vibes of the world that was created in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. In fact it goes many steps ahead in terms of the picturisation and choreography with several sets put together to make it really grand.

However what stands out most in the song is the manner in which Akshay Kumar is truly enjoying vibing to the beats and bringing to fore the kind of character that Priyadarshan had so successfully brought before the audiences for many movies in a row. One look at the song and you know that the actor-director collaboration is at work here and that’s what meets the stage perfectly well for the film.

What’s also working perfectly well for the film is its release timing. It arrives at the time when Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic mania would have settled down, what with them arriving on 19th March and allowing a three week gap before Bhooth Bangla hits the screens on 10th April. What’s even better is that no new major Bollywood release is planned post that for weeks in succession and the next big one is only on 1st May when Akshay Kumar’s friend Riteish Deshmukh arrives with his magnum opus Raja Shivaji. This translates into an open run of three full weeks.

Things have fallen well in place for Akshay Kumar and his Bhooth Bangla and one banger of a trailer and a couple of more chartbusters will set it up well for a big opening day ahead.
