Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 comes as a breath of fresh air amid the surge of high-octane action, thrillers, and dramas ruling over the screens nowadays. The sequel to the 2020 film blends comedy, romance, quirkiness, and post-marriage chaos into a relatable narrative that takes you on a ride that will keep you entertained.
Avinash Tiwary as Shivansh/Sunny is enjoyable. His character as a wrestler, Sunny, with everything desi in him, Avinash, showcased his new side in the film, and it is worth watching. From comedy, serious to intense, his emotional transitions elevate the experience.
No less is Medha Shankr. She is a surprise for fans as Geetanjali/Ginny. Unlike 12th Fail, Medha shows every shade of her character from bold, bubbly, free-spirited to emotional, broke and strong. As Ginny, Medha has raised expectations.
Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr as Ginny and Sunny are a delight to watch. Their chemistry is effortless and sparks magic—pairing a wrestler with a free-spirited woman, the story starts fresh; however, as it progresses, it seems predictable. But the relatable factor, emotional depth, and comedy help the film thrive.
The first half of the film is full of comedy and romance, while the second half is a mix of emotions and laughter, making it a good family entertainer. Director and writer Prashant Jha has done a great job. He has created a light-hearted romance comedy that may not be very distant but surely entertains.
Special mention to side characters Lillete Dubey, Sudhir Pandey, Govind Namdev, Nayani Dixit, Vishwanath Chatterjee, Rohit Chaudhary, and Gopi Bhalla—all of them contribute to making this film a laughter-filled ride.
Cinematography excellently explores the film’s full-of-life theme through colors, but what really left a lasting impact was its vibrancy. Set in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the film portrays two distinct worlds well, and its screenplay keeps viewers engaged.
