The King has done it again!
No official announcement of even the title, leave aside any glimpse from his next film, and still Shah Rukh Khan is making it all count. His King is the most hyped film already of 2026 and to think of it, barring a couple of passing mentions that Shah Rukh Khan has made in part-formal part-informal settings, nothing has actually been officially said so far about the film.
All of this looks like straight out of 2021-22 time period when all that one was hearing was about Shah Rukh signing his next set of films and then also beginning shooting them all with nothing but his fans only working towards accentuating the hype.
These films were Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, each of which really made 2023 special on their release.
Pathaan later saw an official announcement from YRF, Jawan had an interestingly cut announcement teaser with Shah Rukh Khan’s face in bandages and when it came to Dunki, there was this friendly banter between him and Rajkumar Hirani that conveyed to people around it going on floors.
One now waits to see whether something like this will happen with King as well, what with Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday this Sunday (2nd November).
During his #AskSRK session on X this Thursday, he did get into a friendly online banter with his director Siddharth Anand where there was some tease around King, its announcement and the making. However this is what the actor-director jodi has been doing for the last so many months now when it comes to King – Tease!
Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t been addressing anything related to King and except for some shooting stills that were unveiled when the crew first landed in Poland, everything about the film has been sworn to secrecy. Is he a Gang-lord in the film? What part does Suhana Khan actually play in the film? Will this be an out and out stylish action affair or there would be more to that? Nothing, just nothing has been spoken about the film and still it’s red hot like never before.
All that is known is that the film would be arriving in 2026. As. A matter of fact there is nothing official about that as well but then given the fact it’s thick into its many shooting schedules now, one can safely assume that the last quarter of 2026 will see the film’s arrival.
With Ramayana coming on Diwali 2026, the next best feasible holiday season for King would be Christmas 2026. However, there could be either Shakti Shalini or Mahavatar coming on these dates. So will Shah Rukh Khan not really care about a holiday release and just mark his regular Friday as a holiday instead, as he did with Jawan? Well, this could very much be possible.
All said and done, the fact remains that King SRK would ensure that his King is the most awaited film of 2026, and it’s his deep marketing acumen coupled with on-ground connect with his gazillions of fans that he manages through social media which should eventually do the needful.
That said, will he eventually release something about the film on his birthday? Well, again there is huge secrecy with that. He may, he may not, and in the process he would not just keep his fans guessing but also ensure that non-stop chatter around his film doesn’t stop even for a single day, as has already been witnessed for last so many months.
The birthday boy is making it all count year after year and it’s going to be no different as he brings on his big day this Sunday.
