It’s the love story that promises to cross ‘Saat Samundar,’ and as you move with the waves of the oceans, you know the waves do not run smooth—they have all the haphazard historical happenings, the salty ups and downs, the misunderstandings, and a whole lot of drama. Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri grabs a heaping scoop of this melodramatic sundae and whirls you onto a rollercoaster year-ender—swirled and sprinkled with the whimsical magic of Ray and Rumi. Here, love is Ray-Rumi-fied to the hilt, unapologetically fizzing with Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s charm.
We get it, the remake of ‘Saat Samundar’ has been disappointing—and you get the Quick Style to dance with you, but then you pull up those moves? It’s crankily sweet and sometimes bitter, given the song version—but it’s the vibe, I believe. And it’s always fun to witness reprises of old OG songs—good/bad comes later.

Saat Samundar gets a zesty jolt—why? Because our star-crossed duo sets sail on a love voyage where hearts blossom faster than you can say ‘Bollywood twist.’ The plot revolves around Ray (Kartik Aaryan) and Rumi (Ananya Panday)—reuniting after their Pati, Patni Aur Woh shenanigans. Ray’s got his head in the clouds and feet in the now, a free spirit who treats every moment like a confetti cannon; Rumi, meanwhile, is as rooted as a banyan tree, emotions neatly filed under ‘family first,’ and always crunching the numbers on life’s what-ifs. Sparks fly the instant their worlds collide—cue the magic! What follows is a riotous journey of swapping perspectives and leveling up their own love-game avatars. But ahoy, lovebirds! Crossing metaphorical oceans is as dramatic as a monsoon in Mumbai—so expect storms, heartbreak, and a dash of cinematic suspense. Will their love weather the waves? Only a ticket to the theatre holds the answer.
The supporting cast sparkles with legends like Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff, infusing the story with gravitas, wit, and a dash of old-school panache. Neena Gupta delights as Ray’s mother, Pinky Mehra—equal parts warmth and wisdom—while Jackie Shroff rules the screen as Rumi’s larger-than-life, no-nonsense father, Colonel Amar Vardhan Singh.

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, directed by Sameer Vidwans, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and others, is all breather. It’s an ode to the love story that seemed to be buried under the bloodthirst—a perfect one for those who continue to believe in love—and for those who don’t, this film promises you kinky butterflies in your belly.
IWMBuzz rates it 3.5/5 stars.
Happy Holidays!
