Akhri Sawal gets its honorary unveiling at the Closing Ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The feature film, produced under the banner of Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures, aims to portray the quintessence of the nation’s most influential organisation, RSS.
The film features a prominent cast including Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, and Tridha Choudhury. Eminent dignitaries, leading voices from the film fraternity, and an attentive global audience witnessed the magic at the festival. The makers expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) for extending this platform at one of India’s foremost cinematic events.
Directed by National Award–winning Abhijeet Mohan Warang, Akhri Sawal presents a bold exploration of narratives beyond mainstream documentation. The teaser states that the film is ‘based on true events’ and presents dramatic interpretations of lesser-known conversations and ideological tensions from India’s Pre-Independence era.
One of the key moments shown in the teaser depicts Mahatma Gandhi visiting Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In this dramatised scene, the two men exchange questions about ideology, purpose, and the reasons the Sangh did not align with the Indian National Congress. The teaser touches upon themes of differing missions and concludes with a suggestion of unresolved ideological conflict. The film elevates the annals that have shaped the country’s political spheres.
These moments work collectively to signal the film’s thematic promise: the untold, the unseen, and the unspoken truths that sit beyond textbooks and conventional narratives. Without claiming historical certitude, the film invites audiences to examine perspectives that have often remained outside mainstream discourse.
Nikhil Nanda, the producer, asserts the moment as honouring, stating, “Presenting the teaser of Akhri Sawal on the IFFI stage has been an honour for all of us. We are deeply grateful for the recognition and the opportunity to share our vision with such an esteemed gathering. This moment marks the beginning of an important journey for our team, and we look forward to bringing this story to life with sincerity and commitment.”

Actor Amit Sadh, talking about the moment, stated, “To stand on the IFFI stage and introduce Akhri Sawal to the world was both humbling and inspiring. Every film begins with a leap of faith, and this moment felt like our first collective step. I am grateful for the encouragement we received and look forward to starting the shoot in December with passion and dedication.”
With its debut moment shared at IFFI, Akhri Sawal now moves confidently into production, commencing in December 2025. With this audacious film, Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures LLP continues its pursuit of stories that spark dialogue, question obstinate perspectives, and resonate with the world we inhabit today.
