Amid the buzz, Deepika Padukone has now liked a post calling out the Spirit director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Journalist Janvi Manchanda, on August 21, 2026, uploaded a series of pictures reacting to the claims of Pranay Reddy Vanga, calling out misogyny, sexism, and partiality.
In her post, the journalist wrote, “Breaking: Deepika Padukone Allegedly Wanted 10% Of Spirit’s Profits. Judging by the meltdown, you’d think she asked for the entire film and Vanga estate. Sounds like we have a full-blown male-ego crisis on our hands. A woman rejected a deal, and misogyny couldn’t handle a woman’s no.”
She further penned down Pranay’s claims, sarcastically taking a dig at the system, highlighting how when a male actor demands, they are called disciplined, and when women ask, they are tagged as difficult. She wrote, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother, Pranay, claims Deepika asked for: 10% of the profits + her remuneration + an 8-hour workday. And somehow this is a SCANDAL. But here are some facts: None of this is unprecedented. Male stars have negotiated profit shares, fixed working hours and other favourable working terms for years. A man does it, he’s “disciplined.” A woman does it, she’s “difficult.”
The journalist Janvi highlighted that despite significant time passing, the makers are still discussing how difficult a demand Deepika made: “Deepika has largely remained silent. Yet months later, the Vanga camp is still talking about negotiating her ‘difficult’ terms for 18 months. If the terms didn’t work, they could have simply walked away and moved on. That’s how negotiations work. A woman doesn’t have to accept a deal just because a man wants her to.”
Calling out the misogyny, she further added, “But Deepika Padukone made a mistake. She said ‘no’ to a deal that didn’t work for her. And men have historically handled rejection beautifully: She rejected me. What an attitude. She said no. What a b***h. She walked away. How dare she! Different setting. Same misogyny. Same fragile male ego.”
Reflecting on the cruelty of men, Janvi said, “Women have been punished for rejecting men personally for centuries. Now we’re watching the professional version: A woman said no. She concluded, saying, “This isn’t about ‘professionalism.” It’s misogyny. It’s sexism. It’s male ego. She said no. Get over it, boys.”
