Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was recently granted interim bail, and he was released from Tihar in the cheque bounce case until March 19 by the Delhi High Court. And in a recent talk, the actor’s lawyer shared the full details about the case, highlighting an unexpected link to Amitabh Bachchan.
Lawyer Bhaskar Upadhyay, in a conversation with Free Press Journal, revealed that the matter dates back to Rajpal Yadav’s film Ata Pata Laapata. And for it, the actor took a loan of 5 crore from Madhav Gopal Aggarwal. And the reports suggest that the two parties sorted things with an initial agreement followed by three supplementary agreements until August 2012, and Rajpal issued five cheques to the business, which were to be encashed from December 2012.
However, the course of the situation shifted during the film’s music launch in September 2012, when Madhav wanted to share the stage with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, but the actor’s team denied this, after which Madhav felt annoyed and went to the Delhi court in September and demanded a stay in the film as per the agreement until his dues were cleared.
He shared, “In September, Amitabh Bachchan stepped in for the film’s music launch, and the complainant wanted to share the stage with him. Rajpal’s team said no to that as Mr Bachchan wasn’t taking any favours for his presence, and the complainant got annoyed by that. He moved to the Delhi HC in September 2012 on the basis of that agreement, asking for a stay on the film until his dues were cleared. The case was dragged till December 2012 when he deposited the first cheque of Rs 60,60,350, which was honoured.”
And after that, the complainant decided to lift the stay with both parties’ consent in 2013, which nullified all the previous agreements. However, even after a fresh agreement was passed in 2016, the matter wasn’t resolved, and in 2018, new judges came in again, turning the tables, which has led to the case dragging on since 2012.
