The Box office debate is here once again. The stir is up, and why not; 2025 could not witness the brightest light at the end of tunnel so far. Saiyaara alone made it big, and then we had Chhaava. Keeping these two aside, none of the films could make the mark. And now Karan Johar, who’s pillaring Mirai by Teja Sajja, sprouted to defend Bollywood box office at the press meet of the film.
During the press meet, Karan Johar was asked if the hiked production costs and star fees are being the instrumental in the failures of the films at the box office, to which Karan Johar, said that every film has its own destiny. Well, a fair point. Nothing you can really do beyond your fate. Amor Fati as they say. The hard work alone doesn’t help in reviving your fate. It comes when it is your time to wave the tide.
He said, “It has also happened many times that there are very big stars in a film, and it has worked. So, this is not at all the case. All the actors have started understanding now that they have to contribute to the film’s vision. They are dealing separately. Everybody has become understanding of our times. So, we can’t put everything in a box – if we take young actors and have a big vision, then this film will work. It has happened several times that such films also haven’t worked. You can’t say anything for sure.” He further added, “There are different eras, films, and experiences. We have watched so many films that actually keep changing our narratives. Now, many musical films will be released with newcomers, but that doesn’t mean all of them will become a Saiyaara. Animation films will also come, but they also won’t necessarily become Narsimha Mahavatar. Box office has no rules,” as per Hindustan Times.
Mirai is an upcoming film directed by Karthik Gattamneni and Anil Anand, featuring Teja Sajja, Shriya Saran, Jayaram, and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles. The movie is set to hit theatres on 12 September.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar’s upcoming production Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, stars Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra. The film is scheduled for release on 2 October.
