The star died at the age of 80 today, Monday, March 9, 2026. His passing has sent a shockwave through the Bengali film and television fraternity, prompting mourning.
Tamal succumbed to cardiac arrest, and the reports suggest that the incident took place in his sleep at his South Kolkata residence.
Chowdhury was a well-known actor who began his career on stage and remained deeply connected to the theatre throughout his career. Apart from being a prominent name in theatre, he has been part of several TV shows and films, which made him a star in both sectors.
