Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are all set for their upcoming film Alpha. However, with just two days left before the theatrical release, the film is seeing less hype and excitement among moviegoers, despite being one of the biggest projects backed by Aditya Chopra under his Yash Raj Films banner.
Shiv Rawail-directed Alpha also stars Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles; it is a big-budget film and is labeled as the first female-led film in the acclaimed Yash Raj Spy Universe. Even with the big names, banner, and grandeur, the pre-release buzz has remained below expectations.
However, the film’s makers have been actively promoting the spy thriller across platforms. Recently, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari appeared on stand-up comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent 2 for the promotional campaign, hoping it would help Alpha connect with a wider audience and generate more hype, given the comedy show’s popularity. But things didn’t turn out as expected because Alia and Sharvari’s appearance failed to generate excitement, which looks concerning for the film’s future.
Earlier, too, when the film’s teaser and trailer were released, both times it received a lukewarm response on social media, with many expressing their disappointment. Some called it a copy, while a section of the internet expressed views pointing out that Alia does not seem to fit the character, resulting in an underwhelming response. In that regard, Alpha is struggling to generate the buzz and strong online conversation ahead of the release that earlier films in the Spy Universe did.
In conclusion, the ‘Thanda’ response and the lack of major hype have now sparked questions about the film’s box office prospects. Despite the film having star power, a grand scale, and the YRF banner, the low pre-release noise may affect the opening numbers. So, at present, with low buzz, Alpha seems to be in danger, and now one can only wait for the film to finally hit the theatres.
