The order came on a petition filed by Satish Salian, Disha Salian’s father. The court also directed that the petitioner’s statement be recorded as part of the investigation. The court made it clear that no person would be treated as an accused unless the investigation establishes that a cognizable offence has been committed. The court further observed that if the investigation does not establish a case, the petitioner would have the liberty to pursue an appeal in accordance with law. The CBI inquiry will now examine the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death and the allegations raised in the petition.
Disha Salian, a former celebrity manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Her death, which came days before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, with whom she had worked, has over the years been the subject of allegations and speculation. While her death was initially investigated by Mumbai Police, questions surrounding the circumstances of the incident have continued to be raised, with her father Satish Salian seeking a fresh probe into the matter.
