Call for CBI enquiry on Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case should first come from the family - Swastika Mukherjee

Swastika Mukherjee has always been a force to reckon with in the Bengali film industry. Years after years, a spree of successful movies have helped her create a niche for herself, and no wonder, fans love her ever-so-perfect women-centric roles.

Swastika was recently seen in Dil Bechara which boasted of an ensemble cast of Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjana Sanghi and herself. Swastika played a loving mother to Sanjana and her role was extremely appreciated. When we asked her as to how easy or difficult it was to play a caring mother of this nature in the film, she said and we quote,

“You know, you might find it funny but a lot of things which I probably haven’t been able to do with my daughter, I have done in the movie with Sanjana. In reality, I love my daughter no doubt but my main concern pretty much shows around the time of exams. I am not with her 24/7. She has her own privacy and I respect that. Here in the film, I got to explore my motherhood nature a lot more and I am very glad about it. Also, there’s not too much of a difference between Sanjana and Anwesha and hence I could relate a lot.”

Recently, Swastika suffered a lot of cyberbullying due to being falsely quoted regarding Sushant’s suicide. When we asked her about the harassment, she said and we quote,

“Sadly, people don’t even bother to verify in today’s time. I had never even spoken to that publication and I was falsely quoted. People believed that without any verification. I was given rape threats, abused and even received threats of acid attacks. Can you imagine? It was a terrible phase and a very terrible one. I wish people show more sympathy and smartness and verify before believing anything and everything on social media”.

Lastly, when we asked her regarding the ugly debates that going around after Sushant’s case and whether a CBI enquiry should happen or not, she concluded saying,

“I wouldn’t at all want to be a part of the mudslinging that’s going around. Some are doing it for their personal vendetta and motive. Like, if A and B have a fight and C dislikes B, C will take A’s side and if D comes in and dislikes A, D will take B’s side. It’s horrible and I want to stay away from it. As far as a CBI inquiry is concerned, I personally would want it to happen to get closure on what really happened. But I also must say that I am in no position to ask for that. It should come first from the family. They are the best people to take a call on how they want closure on this case. As I said, I am personally in for it but I am nobody to take the call. It should first come from the family since their loss has no comparison.”
