The Telugu film fraternity is reeling from the unexpected and untimely loss of senior actor Chandra Mohan, who passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest. The veteran actor, known for his diverse roles and contributions to the industry, left an indelible mark on Telugu cinema.
Chandra, a seasoned artist revered for his portrayals as a lead protagonist in numerous acclaimed films, breathed his last on Saturday at 9.45 am at Hyderabad’s Apollo Hospital. He was 82 years old at the time of his demise. He is survived by his wife, Jalandhara, and two daughters. The final rites and farewell ceremony are scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on Monday.
Jr NTR, an eminent figure in the industry, took to social media to express his grief over the loss of Chandra Mohan. “It is very sad to see the untimely death of Chandramohan Garu, who has earned special recognition for himself by playing different roles in films for many decades. My deepest condolences to his family and may his soul rest in peace (sic),” he shared, paying his respects to the departed veteran.
Chandra’s illustrious career spanned decades, earning him critical acclaim and awards for his exceptional contributions to Telugu cinema. His notable performances, including the role in the box office hit ‘Rangula Ratnam’ and his first Tamil film ‘Naalai Namadhe’ alongside MGR, solidified his position as a versatile and talented actor. Throughout his career, he received one Filmfare Award South and two Nandi Awards, reflecting his prowess and impact in the industry. The sudden demise of Chandra has left a void in the hearts of his colleagues, admirers, and the wider Telugu cinema audience.
