The Tamil superstar Dhanush has found himself in a legal battle because Thenandal Films served him a ₹20 crore lawsuit on February 14, 2026 through their legal notice which claims Dhanush failed to complete his work on Naan Rudhran which he had agreed to direct and act in when he signed the contract in 2016. The notice claims Dhanush who had committed to direct and act in the movie from his 2016 agreement with the filmmakers failed to complete his script writing work which led to Naan Rudhran becoming unfinished because he chose to work on different projects after the production company invested a lot of money in the project.

Thenandal Films is seeking ₹20 crore to recoup its initial production expenses plus an additional ₹1 crore in damages. The notice further issues an ultimatum which gives Dhanush a week to respond. He must choose between two options which require him to finish the long-delayed film by December 2026 or pay the demanded amount to stop legal proceedings.

The current conflict between the two parties follows Dhanushs previous public dispute with another person. He filed a ₹10 crore legal notice against Nayanthara in late 2024 because she used a three-second clip from his movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without permission in her Netflix documentary. The incident had sparked a heated debate in the industry about intellectual property rights and fair use.

Dhanush has not yet issued any official public statement about the legal notice from Thenandal Films. The star has maintained silence about the situation which has led fans and industry experts to make predictions about the upcoming developments in what seems to be a rising conflict between the two parties.
